MOSCOW, 25 Jan – Colorado defeated Washington in the regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The meeting in Denver ended with the score 3:2 (1:0, 2:1, 0:1). The hosts scored Artturi Lehkonen (9th minute), Andrew Cogliano (23) and Alex Nyhuk (36). Russian Avalanche goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev saved 37 shots on target and was recognized as the first star of the meeting. Conor Shiri (25) and Russian team captain Alexander Ovechkin (50) scored among the guests.
Ovechkin scored 811 goals in the regular season and reduced the gap from Wayne Gretzky in the list of the best scorers in NHL history to 83 goals.
“Washington” (56 points, 50 games) is fifth in the Eastern Conference Capital Division. Colorado (55 points, 46 games), with a sixth straight win, is third in the Central Division in the West.
