Irfan Pathan has played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20 Internationals in his career. Yusuf Pathan played 57 ODIs and 22 T20 Internationals in his career.
There have been many occasions in cricket when two brothers on the field have played for the same team. India has joined many brothers on the field. At present, Pandya brothers are brightening their name in Team India.
Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan have also played together for Team India. The Pathan brothers have held such a record, which is now impossible for any player to break.
Irfan Pathan made his international debut in a Test match against Australia in Adelaide in 2003 December. He made his first ODI in a match against Australia in Melbourne in January 2009. He made his T20 International debut in December 2006 against South Africa.
His elder brother Yusuf Pathan, he was never selected in the Test team. However, represented India in ODIs and T20s. He made his international debut in January 2007 in a T20 match against South Africa in Johannesburg. Yousuf started his ODI career in January 2008 with a match against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
Yusuf’s international career was much shorter than Irfan’s. However, he made such a record in a short career, on which no other name can be written. Team India holds the record for winning the first T20 World Cup.
The first T20 World Cup was held in 2007. In its final, India defeated Pakistan by 5 runs. In that match, Irfan Pathan took 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs. Yusuf Pathan also played in that match. He had given 5 runs in an over. Irfan was elected man of the match in the final.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008. The Rajasthan Royals became the first champions of the IPL, led by the Australian legend. Rajasthan defeated Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in the final.
In that match, Yusuf Pathan took 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, 56 runs off 39 balls were also played with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes. Yusuf was voted Man of the Match in that match.
These are both records, which are recorded in the names of the Pathan brothers. That means being selected man of the match in the first T20 World Finals and the first IPL Finals. It can also be called a coincidence. However, it is impossible to break these records of the Pathan brothers, as the first season of both the tournaments is now due to take place.
