MOSCOW, 22 Jul – Peruvian Kimberly Garcia Leon became the winner of the women’s race walking competition at a distance of 35 km at the World Championships in Athletics in Eugene (USA, Oregon).
The winner showed the result of 2 hours 39 minutes 16 seconds. The second was Katarzyna Zdzieblo from Poland (2:40.03). The top three winners were closed by the Chinese Tseyan Shenjie (2:40.37).
Earlier in Eugene, Leon won the 20 km competition, earning Peru’s first-ever medal at the World Championships.
The Council of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) on March 1, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in major international tournaments, including the World Championships in Eugene.
