French footballer Pogba will not play at the World Cup in Qatar
MOSCOW, 31 Oct – Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss the World Cup in Qatar, his agent Rafaela Pimenta has said.
Earlier, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Pogba is at risk of not playing in the World Cup due to a new injury. It was noted that the 29-year-old Frenchman had problems with the thigh muscles.
Pogba suffered a lateral meniscus injury during Juventus’ summer tour of the US. He was expected to undergo surgery in the United States, but the football player, according to media reports, refused surgery and opted for an alternative treatment option. Later, the midfielder agreed to the operation. On October 18, the Frenchman returned to training.
The FIFA World Cup will take place from November 20 to December 18. France will play in Group D with Tunisia, Australia and Denmark.
Pogba returned to Juventus from Manchester United in July. As part of the French national team, he played 91 matches, scored 11 goals, became the world champion (2018), the silver medalist of the European Championship (2016), the winner of the League of Nations (2021).
