MOSCOW, 23 Jul – President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretiak presented CSKA with the Russian Champions Cup and medals for the national championship following the results of the 2021/22 season of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
Last season, CSKA defeated Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the final series of the KHL playoffs and won the Gagarin Cup.
“Today we are honoring CSKA hockey players. I have been playing for the club for 21 years, and it is a great honor for me to present medals. There were doubts when young coaches came, but they proved that youth takes its toll. I would like to say thanks to all the leaders. You are the team, and there are no trifles in the team. Today you are the best hockey players in the country. It is very difficult to win the cup, and the most difficult thing is to repeat the success,” Tretyak said during the honoring of the champions at the Hockey Museum.
“You are great guys. During the season, you made us worry. The team has one task – to win the Gagarin Cup and become national champions. Congratulations to everyone,” said two-time Olympic champion Boris Mikhailov, who also took part in the award ceremony.
CSKA won the Gagarin Cup for the second time (2019, 2022) and for the fourth time – the champion of Russia (2015, 2019, 2020, 2022).
