Putin: Yawara Challenge Judo Tournament Makes a Serious Contribution to the Promotion of Martial Arts
MOSCOW, June 17 – Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a welcome telegram to the participants and guests of the Yawara Challenge International Judo Club Tournament on the occasion of the opening and stressed that the tournament makes a serious contribution to the popularization of martial arts, their philosophy and values.
According to Putin, the holding of these prestigious spectacular competitions is becoming a good tradition, a notable event in the life of St. Petersburg and all of Russia, according to a telegram published on the Kremlin website. Putin noted that the tournament brings together the strongest teams from the Russian Federation and other countries, and also largely reflects the state of modern judo and the development trends of this vibrant and dynamic fight.

In this regard, I would like to thank the staff of the Yavara-Neva club – talented wrestlers, coaches, mentors – for the excellent organization of competitions and for consistently high sports results. Today “Yavara-Neva” is rightfully considered one of the most titled teams, a multiple and current European champion,” the telegram says.
The President of Russia emphasized his confidence that exciting, intense fights and an uncompromising battle of characters await the spectators and participants of the tournament, and the Yawara Challenge will develop, expand horizons and involve loyal fans in its orbit.
