MOSCOW, 27 Jul – Azerbaijani football club Qarabag played a draw with Swiss Zurich in the return match and advanced to the third qualifying round of the Champions League by the sum of two meetings.
The main time of the meeting in Zurich ended with the score 2:1. In the fourth minute, the defender of “Karabakh” Maxim Medvedev cut the ball into his own net. The score was equalized by the midfielder of the Azerbaijani club Kadi (56th minute). As part of Zurich, Ivan Santini scored (90 + 6). In additional time “Garabagh” equalized the score, Kvabena Ovus scored a goal (98) – 2:2.
The first match ended with the victory of the Azerbaijani club with a score of 3:2.
In the third qualifying round, “Qarabagh” will play with the winner of the confrontation between the Slovak “Slovan” and the Hungarian “Ferencváros”, which is headed by the former coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov.
In another match of the day, the Lithuanian “Zalgiris” beat the Swedish “Malmo” on the road and on aggregate (1:0, 2:0). In the third round of qualifying, the Lithuanian club will meet with the Norwegian “Bodø-Glimt”, which is played by Russian goalkeeper Nikita Khaikin.
The first legs of the third qualifying round will take place on 2 and 3 August, the return legs on 9 August.
