MOSCOW, 24 July – Reigning Formula 1 champion Dutchman Max Verstappen of the Red Bull team strengthened his lead in the drivers’ standings after winning the French Grand Prix.
Verstappen won his seventh win of the season on Sunday with 233 points. His closest pursuer Monegasque Charles Leclerc of Ferrari did not finish the race. He has 170 points left. In third place is the Mexican Sergio Perez of Red Bull (163 points). Seven-time champion Briton Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes is in sixth place (127).
The top 10 drivers’ standings also include: 4. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari (144), 5. George Russell, Mercedes (143) … 7. Lando Norris, McLaren (70), 8. Esteban Ocon, Alpin (56), 9. Valtteri Bottas, Alfa Romeo (46), 10. Fernando Alonso, Alpin (37).
Red Bull lead the Constructors’ Championship with 396. The top 5 also includes Ferrari (314), Mercedes (270), Alpin (93) and McLaren (89).
The next stage of the championship will be held in Hungary at the circuit “Hungaroring” July 29-31.
