Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accompanied by his wife Akshata Murty, attended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final at Narendra Modi Stadium, cheering passionately for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Punjab Kings on June 3, 2025. Sunak’s support for RCB stems from a deep personal connection to Bengaluru, where his wife’s family hails from.

“I’m married into a Bengaluru family, so RCB is my team,” Sunak said during his India visit, highlighting his bond with the franchise. He shared that his in-laws, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and author Sudha Murty, gifted him an RCB jersey when he married Akshata, cementing his loyalty to the team. Sunak, a long-time RCB fan, recalled attending matches years ago and cheering for the team even during his tenure at Downing Street.
