MOSCOW, 28 Jul – Football player Roman Eremenko signed a contract with the Finnish club HIFK until the end of the season, according to the official website of the team from Helsinki.
It is reported that the 35-year-old ex-midfielder of the Finnish national team trained with the team for several weeks before signing the contract.
“The atmosphere is positive now, I haven’t played for a long time, so I feel good. The move was not planned from the very beginning. I came to train at the club a couple of weeks ago, and somehow it came to a contract. I believe that my experience will benefit the club,” Eremenko said.
In Russia, Eremenko played for Rostov, Spartak Moscow, CSKA and Rubin Kazan. He also played for the Finnish “Yaro”, the Italian “Udinese” and “Siena”, Kiev “Dynamo”. The player has 73 matches and 5 goals for the Finnish national team. The Finn’s last club was Rostov, which he left at the beginning of last year.
Eremenko, being a player of CSKA Moscow, was suspended by UEFA for two years in November 2016 due to the discovery of traces of cocaine and its metabolites in a doping sample. The player’s suspension ended on October 6, 2018.
Eremenko is the champion of Russia with CSKA, the owner of the Cup and the Super Cup of the country with Rubin. Together with Dynamo, he became the champion of Ukraine.
