Rooney and Vieira inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame
MOSCOW, 23 Mar – Englishman Wayne Rooney and Frenchman Patrick Vieira have become the first players to be inducted into the Premier League (EPL) Hall of Fame in 2022, according to the tournament’s website.
With 208 Premier League goals, Rooney is the second top scorer in Premier League history behind compatriot Alan Shearer. In the Premier League, he played for Everton and Manchester United, and is also the top scorer in the history of the Mancunians (256 goals, 183 in the championship).
Vieira has played for Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League. In 2004, together with the Londoners, being the team captain, he became the champion of England. Arsenal are the first and so far the only team to win the league unbeaten.
There are now 10 players in the Premier League Hall of Fame. It previously included Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
