Irish Independent: Russian fighter Lobov files $30m lawsuit against McGregor
MOSCOW, 23 Nov – Russian fighter Artem Lobov has sued former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Conor McGregor, alleging he suggested his former sparring partner the idea of starting a whiskey company, Irish Mirror reports citing the Irish Independent.
In 2021, McGregor and two other shareholders sold their stake in the company for $600 million. According to the source, Lobov is demanding 5% of the amount from this deal ($30 million) from a former friend. The Irishman’s former sparring partner previously claimed he refused a $1 million payment from McGregor.
Lobov is 36 years old. In mixed martial arts, he spent 30 fights, in which he won 13 victories and suffered 15 defeats. From 2015 to 2019, the Irishman competed in the UFC, and then moved to the bare-knuckle fighting league Bare Knuckle FC.
McGregor is 34 years old. In July 2021, he suffered a broken leg in his third fight against American Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and has not fought a single fight since. He has 22 wins and six losses to his credit and previously held the UFC championship belts in the lightweight and featherweight divisions.
