Dmitry Alenichev, 49 years old

The ex-midfielder of the Russian national team began coaching at the club level in 2011, and spent about a hundred matches in the RPL, but never won trophies. Alenichev had the best chances to win something in Spartak. However, the ex-Spartak player stayed in the Moscow club for only a little over a year: he came in June 2015 and left in August 2016.

The main successes of Alenichev as a coach are associated with Arsenal: he raised a team from the second league to the first, and then to the RPL. Since the summer of 2019 – on a sabbatical.

Gadzhi Gadzhiev, 76 years old

Gadzhiev is one of the leaders among Russian coaches in terms of the number of matches in the RPL. The Professor, who in different years headed Anji, Krylya Sovetov, Saturn, Volga and Amkar, has almost 400 games in the elite. But there is no trophy. Although Gadzhiev was close to success twice, leading teams from Makhachkala and Samara to the final of the Russian Cup. In addition, with the “Wings of the Soviets” he took bronze – this is the best result in the history of the club. I finished coaching in March 2018.

Valery Karpin, 53 years old

Karpin’s career seems to be developing more successfully than that of another ex-Spartak Alenichev, however, the head coach of the Russian national team has not yet won anything serious. Although he has been training since 2009 and has worked in this role at Spartak for almost five years. He played 250 matches in the RPL. The maximum result is two silver with red and white. In cup tournaments, neither with “Spartak” nor with “Rostov” did not reach the final. In general, Karpin still has unrealized goals both at the club level and in the national team.

Andrey Kobelev, 53 years old

Another former midfielder of the Russian national team, who coached a lot in the RPL (Kobelev has under 200 matches), and at the same time did not achieve much success. His career is mainly associated with Dynamo, but in the early 2010s he headed Wings of the Soviets for a little over a year.

The best season, perhaps, was in 2008, when the blue-and-whites took bronze under Andrey’s leadership. But in 2016, Dynamo, with him at the head, flew out of the RPL, more precisely, Kobelev was dismissed three rounds before the finish of the championship. Since then, he has not coached.

Oleg Kononov, 56 years old

Kononov came close to winning the trophy in 2020 while in charge of Riga. However, the Russian specialist left the team 10 rounds before the finish line, so the Rigans won the championship without him. In the RPL, Oleg played one and a half hundred matches with Krasnodar, Akhmat, Arsenal and Spartak. From time to time, his teams showed very nice, attacking football, however, Kononov did not win anything serious. Although bronze with Krasnodar is also an excellent result.

Yuri Krasnozhan, 59 years old

Since December 2020, Krasnozhan has been working in women’s football, and before that, Yuriy gave 20 years of his career to men’s. In the RPL, he has about 200 matches. This coach got into really strong and ambitious teams – Lokomotiv and Anji Suleiman Kerimov, but left both clubs after conflicts. He brought Spartak Nalchik to the elite, worked with Kuban and Akhmat, was in Khimki. Krasnozhan has solid experience, but it didn’t work out with trophies.

Rashid Rakhimov, 57 years old

Those who remember Rakhimov as a player of Spartak, Lokomotiv and the Russian national team in the 1990s may be surprised that he is already in the top 10 in terms of the number of matches in the RPL as a coach. Amkar, Loko, Akhmat and Ufa played almost three hundred games under his leadership. But Rashid did not take prizes. Rakhimov was closest to the trophy in 2008, when the railway workers lost with him to Zenit in the Russian Super Cup. In that meeting, Andrey Arshavin’s legendary goal against Ivan Levenets happened.

Alexander Tarkhanov, 67 years old

Tarkhanov has been coaching for over 30 years, he has 432 matches in the RPL. An impressive career as a coach who led CSKA, Torpedo, Krylya Sovetov, Saturn, Akhmat, Kuban, Khimki, Ural and other teams. The Russian specialist also worked abroad. It is all the more surprising that Tarkhanov still has no trophies. In 2017, he led Ural to the final of the Russian Cup, but in the decisive match, the team from Yekaterinburg lost to Lokomotiv with a score of 0:2.

Vladimir Fedotov, 55 years old

CSKA is the first big team in Fedotov’s career. In the Moscow club, he can satisfy the “trophy” hunger. Although Vladimir Valentinovich has been working as a coach for quite a long time, after all, he began his independent career back in the late 2000s.

In “Orenburg” and “Sochi” he could only count on winning the Russian Cup, but he did not reach the final. Fedotov’s main successes are the victory with Orenburg in the first league and the RPL silver with Sochi last season.

Igor Shalimov, 53 years old

The ex-midfielder of the Russian national team already has more than 120 matches in the RPL as a coach, he headed Uralan, Krasnodar, Akhmat and Ural. In Elista and Yekaterinburg, he fought with the team for survival. Failed in the first case, successful in the second. True, the current season “Ural” began with four defeats in a row, so now Shalimov is on the verge of resignation. He had the best opportunity to win any trophy in Krasnodar, but without big victories he lasted only a year and a half in the club.
