Russian freestyle wrestler Kurbanov lost in the bronze medal match at the World Championships
MOSCOW, September 17 – Russian freestyle wrestler Abdulla Kurbanov lost to American Mason Perris in the fight for bronze at the World Championships in Belgrade in the weight category up to 125 kg.
The match ended with a score of 12:2 in favor of the US representative. Turkey’s Taha Akgül also won bronze. Iranian Amir Zare won gold in the weight category up to 125 kg, and Georgian Geno Petriashvili took silver.
Later, Kurbanov will fight for an Olympic license with Hungarian Daniel Ligeti.
The World Championships in Belgrade, where Olympic licenses for the 2024 Games are awarded, will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
