Russian freestyle wrestler Magomedov became silver medalist at the World Championships
MOSCOW, September 17 – Russian freestyle wrestler Abasgadzhi Magomedov became the silver medalist of the World Championships in Belgrade in the weight category up to 61 kg.
In the final, the Russian lost to the American Vitaly Orudzhev with a score of 9:10. Bronze medals were won by representative of Kyrgyzstan Zhumashbek Tairbek Uulu and Georgian Shota Partenadze. The weight category up to 61 kg is not included in the Olympic Games program.
Magomedov became the first Russian athlete to win a medal at the 2023 World Championships.
The World Championships in Belgrade, where Olympic licenses are awarded, will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
