Russian Mamedov won the fight for bronze at the World Wrestling Championships
MOSCOW, September 19 – Russian freestyle wrestler Shamil Mamedov won the bronze medal bout at the World Championships in Belgrade.
In a fight in the weight category up to 65 kg, the 22-year-old athlete defeated the 2022 world champion, Iranian Rahman Amuzad, with a score of 8:6.
Mamedov won an Olympic license to compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has not yet announced the admission of Russian athletes to the Games.
The World Championships in Belgrade will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
