Russian Sidelnikova lost to Ukrainian Tkach at the World Wrestling Championships
MOSCOW, September 18 – Russian Anastasia Sidelnikova lost to Ukrainian Yulia Tkach in the 1/8 finals in the up to 59 kg weight category at the World Wrestling Championships, which takes place in Belgrade.
Tkach, the 2014 world champion and three-time European champion, defeated Sidelnikova by fall with a score of 5:4. In qualifying, the 22-year-old Russian woman defeated Jovana Radivojevic from Serbia with a score of 10:0.
The World Championships in Belgrade, where Olympic licenses are awarded, will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
Earlier, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine lifted the ban on the participation of Ukrainian athletes in international competitions with athletes from Russia and Belarus performing in a neutral status. A new document signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the President of the National Olympic Committee of the country, Vadim Gutzeit, prohibits sending Ukrainian teams only to those tournaments where Russians and Belarusians compete under their own flags or express their national identity through their public actions/statements.
