Russian wrestler won an Olympic license at the World Championships
MOSCOW, September 17 – Russian freestyle wrestler Abdulla Kurbanov defeated Hungarian Daniel Ligeti in the fight for fifth place at the World Championships in Belgrade in the weight category up to 125 kg.
The match ended with a score of 8:3 in favor of the Russian. Kurbanov won an Olympic license for Russian athletes to compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has not yet announced the admission of Russian athletes to the tournament in the French capital.
The World Championships in Belgrade, where Olympic licenses are awarded, will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
