Sainz ends Verstappen’s record F1 streak by winning the Singapore Grand Prix
MOSCOW, September 17 – Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jr. won the Singapore Grand Prix, breaking the record winning streak of the Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen in the history of Formula 1 at the stages of the “royal race”.
Sainz was the fastest driver after 62 laps of the night race on the streets of Singapore on Sunday. Second place went to the British McLaren driver Lando Norris, third was another Briton – Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who ended up on the podium after his teammate, Briton George Russell, crashed the car on the last lap.
Verstappen, who had previously won 10 Formula 1 stages in a row, took fifth place this time. Sainz became the first driver this season to beat the Red Bull drivers and win at a Formula 1 stage.
