MOSCOW, 27 Jul – Salavat Yulaev Ufa and the Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to extend the lease of striker Rodion Amirov, according to the Telegram channel of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club.
The Russian hockey player will spend one more season in the Ufa team. He currently trains and works with coaches on an individual program.
In February, the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL), which selected the forward in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2020 under the overall number 15, announced that Amirov had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The 20-year-old Russian was treated in Germany. In April, he returned to Ufa after a course of chemotherapy.
This season, Amirov played on loan as part of Salavat Yulaev, of which he is a trainee.
