MOSCOW, 20 Jul – The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) punished the Serbian national team for the racist behavior of fans by holding two home matches without spectators, one of which is conditional, according to the official website of the organization.
UEFA considered the Nations League matches in which the Serbian national team hosted the Norwegian team on June 2, and on the road played against the Slovenes on June 12. For the racist behavior of the fans, the organization fined the Football Union of Serbia 30 thousand euros, and also obliged the national team to play two home matches of any UEFA tournament without spectators, the trial period for one of the meetings is two years from the date of the decision. Also, the Football Union of Serbia is obliged to display a banner with the inscription #NoToRacism with the UEFA logo at the next match.
In addition, the Football Union of Serbia was fined 5,000 euros for a fan entering the playing field and 8,000 euros for using laser pointers by fans. Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic has been suspended for two games for swearing at the referee.
UEFA also punished the Hellenic Football Federation with a partial closure of the stadium in the next match of the tournament under the auspices of the organization, in which the Greek national team will play as the host. The federation was fined 7,750 euros for fans throwing foreign objects on the field in a Nations League match against Kosovo, 6,000 euros for pyrotechnics, 8,000 euros for using laser pointers, and 10,000 euros for fans entering the field.
