MOSCOW, 27 Jul – The Serbian American Electoral Alliance (SAVA) has written a letter to United States President Joe Biden asking him to allow Novak Djokovic to compete in the US Open, which begins in late August, reported.
At the moment, foreigners who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus are denied the right to enter the country. The authors of the appeal write that one of the articles of Biden’s decree refers to permissible exceptions to the covid protocol in accordance with the national interests of the United States.
Recall that Djokovic, who was not vaccinated, had problems entering Australia to participate in the Australian Open last winter. As a result of the scandal that broke out, the Serb was deported, received a three-year ban on entering the country and missed the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Last year, Djokovic, now ranked seventh in the ATP rankings, reached the final of the tournament, where he lost to Russian Daniil Medvedev. If he won, he would become the first Open Era champion of all Grand Slam tournaments in one year for men.
