Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders surges forward in team’s quarterback race. Monday, he earned most practice reps, outpacing others.

Previously seen as fourth option, Sanders now trains with first-team offense. In 11-on-11 drills, order shifted: Joe Flacco first, Sanders second, Dillon Gabriel third. Shift hints at Sanders rising on depth chart, possibly in contention to start against Philadelphia Eagles on August 16.

Coach Kevin Stefanski remains uncommitted to starter for Cleveland’s second preseason game. “Hopeful, but we’ll see. Injuries force day-by-day approach,” Stefanski said.
Sanders shined in Browns’ preseason win over Carolina Panthers. With Jake Pickett, Gabriel sidelined by hamstring injuries, Sanders started. Son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, he completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. Added 19 rushing yards. Showed calm, poise in pocket.
“I’d give myself C+. Passing because we won, that’s key,” Sanders told ESPN Cleveland. “Dad says seize opportunities, but I could’ve done better. Ran offense well, made decisions, still room to grow.”
The former Colorado Buffaloes star is transitioning quickly to the NFL.
