Bayern sporting director confirms Lewandowski’s desire to leave the team
MOSCOW, May 14 – Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed striker Robert Lewandowski’s desire to leave the team before his contract expires, Sky Sport Austria reports.
Earlier it was reported that Spanish “Barcelona” is interested in the services of the 33-year-old striker of the Polish national team, which intends to get the player in the summer transfer window. In addition to the Catalans, PSG, Manchester City and Liverpool expressed their interest.
“I spoke with Lewandowski. He said that he did not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and would like to leave the club. He said that he would like to do something else,” said Salihamidzic.
The sports director noted that Lewandowski’s contract is valid until June 30, 2023. The club is still determined to extend cooperation with him. According to Salihamidzic, negotiations with other clubs on the transfer of the striker have not yet been conducted.
Lewandowski is the Bundesliga’s top scorer this season, with 34 goals in 33 appearances. He scored 13 more goals for Bayern in ten Champions League games.
