MOSCOW, July 26 – Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin presented Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with the Order of Friendship on Tuesday, according to the official website of the ministry.

The award was given to Pavlyuchenkova for winning the mixed doubles competition at the Tokyo Olympics. In the final, she, in a duet with Andrei Rublev, defeated another Russian couple – Aslan Karatsev and Elena Vesnina.
“It is an honor for me to present the Order of Friendship to our Olympic champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. We were all worried about her performance at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and in Tokyo, together with Andrey Rublev, they created a real miracle, writing their names in the history of the world tennis,” Matytsin said.
Pavlyuchenkova is 31 years old. During her career, she won 12 WTA singles titles, won the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup as part of the Russian team. In 2021, she reached the final of the French Open. In May, Pavlyuchenkova announced that she was ending the season ahead of schedule due to injury.
