South African explosive batsman AB de Villiers has started the 13th season of IPL as per his name. He played an explosive innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Monday (21 September). De Villiers completed his half-century off 29 balls. AB hit 4 fours and 2 quick sixes in his 30-ball innings. Thanks to his innings, RCB’s team scored 163 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs against Sunrisers.
De Villiers made a unique achievement during this innings as he hit his first six. He completed 200 sixes for RCB. De Villiers has scored 214 sixes in 155 matches. He played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) from 2008 to 2010. During that time he hit 13 sixes. De Villiers has completed a total of 201 sixes for RCB. He joined the team in 2011. He then became an important part of the RCB team.
De Villiers came in to bat in the 12th over of the innings. At that time the team’s score was 90 for 2 wickets. He handled the innings with captain Virat Kohli, but this partnership could not be big. Kohli was out after scoring 14 runs. RCB’s team were struggling for 124 runs for 3 wickets in 16 overs at one time. De Villiers then took over the front. He hit two consecutive sixes in the 19th over off Sandeep Sharma.
Apart from de Villiers in the match, Devdutt Padikkal played a stormy innings. Playing his first match in the IPL, Padikkal scored 56 runs off 42 balls with the help of eight fours. Sunrisers bowlers have to be praised, who returned well after Mitchell Marsh was injured after scoring 53 runs in the Powerplay. For him, Vijay Shankar, T Natarajan and Abhishek Sharma took one wicket each. Padikkal, who scored a half-century on debut in all three formats of cricket, also did it in the IPL.
