Swedish Boxing Federation boycotts tournaments with athletes from Russia and Belarus
MOSCOW, 7 Oct – The head of the Swedish Boxing Federation, Per-Axel Sjöholm, said that the athletes of the national team would not participate in tournaments to which Russians and Belarusians would be allowed.
The International Boxing Federation (IBA) on Wednesday announced the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the competition. Russian and Belarusian boxers will be able to compete in international tournaments under the flags of their countries, and if they win, national anthems will be played.
The current president of the IBA is the Russian Umar Kremlev, who was re-elected for a new term at the congress of the organization on May 14 in Istanbul.
