The beach volleyball team beat the “classics” team in the Challenge Cup match
MOSCOW, September 16 – The beach volleyball team, led by coach Dmitry Fedotov, beat the “classics” team in the Challenge Cup match, which took place on a sand court in Sochi.
The meeting ended with a score of 2-0 (21:17, 21:17) in favor of the beach volleyball team. The “Stars of the Beach” included world champions, silver medalists of the Tokyo Olympics Oleg Stoyanovsky and Vyacheslav Krasilnikov, as well as Ilya Leshukov, Taras Myskiv and Dmitry Veretyuk. Pavel Pankov, Maxim Mikhailov, Dmitry Volkov, Ilya Vlasov, as well as the invited “beachie” Alexey Arkhipov played for the “Stars of Classic Volleyball”.
In the women’s match, the “classics” team led by Alexey Verbov turned out to be stronger – 2-1 (17:21, 21:19, 15:13). Its members included Evgenia Startseva, Irina Kapustina, Irina Koroleva, Natalya Malykh, Yulia Podskalnaya. Their opponents were a team of “beach girls”, represented by Nadezhda Makroguzova, Svetlana Kholomina, Ekaterina Birlova, Arina Ryazhnova and Brazilian Larisa Franca.
Stoyanovsky and Startseva were recognized as the most valuable players.
