MOSCOW, 25 Jul – Celta Vigo have extended the contract of striker Iago Aspas, according to the website of the Spanish football club.
The new agreement with the 34-year-old Spaniard is for three years.
Aspas is a graduate of Celta. With 184 goals in 418 matches, he is the club’s all-time leading scorer. The striker also represented English Liverpool and Spanish Sevilla.
Aspas made 18 appearances for Spain and scored six goals. His kick in the penalty shootout at the 2018 World Cup was beaten off by Igor Akinfeev and led the Russian team to the quarterfinals of the home world championship.
At one time, Russians Alexander Mostovoy, Fedor Smolov, Valery Karpin played for Celta.
