The champion of the Korir Games became the winner of the world championship in the women’s 800 meters

MOSCOW, 24 July – Kenyan Emmanuel Korir, champion of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, won the 800 meters at the World Championships in Athletics, which takes place in Eugene, USA.
Korir showed the result of 1 minute 43.71 seconds. Jamel Sejati of Algeria finished second in 1:44.14 and Marco Arop of Canada finished third in 1:44.28.
Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay won the women’s 5000 meters with a time of 14 minutes 46.29 seconds. Beatrice Chebet of Kenya came second in 14:46.75 and Dawit Seyaum of Ethiopia was third in 14:47.36.
In the triple jump for men, the Portuguese Pedro Pichardo was the best with a score of 17.95 meters. The second result was shown by the representative of Burkina Faso South Fabrice Zango (17.55), the third – the Chinese Zhu Yaming (17.31).
Team USA won the women’s 4x100m relay. The Americans covered the distance in 41.14 seconds. The second place was taken by the team of Jamaica (41.18), the third – by the representatives of Germany (42.03).
Canada won gold in the men’s 4x100m relay with a score of 37.48. The silver medalists were the Americans (37.55), the bronze – the British (37.83).
The World Championships in Athletics will end on July 24. The Council of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) on March 1, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international tournaments, including the World Championships in Eugene. Prior to that, due to a doping scandal, since 2015, the Russians had the right to play in a neutral status.
