Laviolette: Decision on Ovechkin’s participation in the match against the Islanders will be made before the game

MOSCOW, 26 April – The decision on the participation of Washington Capitals hockey player Alexander Ovechkin in the NHL regular season game with the New York Islanders will be made before the game, Washington Post journalist Samantha Pell reports on Twitter, citing head coach Peter Laviolette.
Ovechkin suffered an upper body injury in a regular season game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was listed as injured as a return to the squad any day now. On Tuesday, the Russian hockey player did not take part in the team’s morning roll-out, and Connor McMichael took his place in the first link.
Laviolette noted that Ovechkin’s status remains “from day to day.” The specialist also said that he did not know whether the Russian would be able to fully recover by the first match of the NHL playoffs.
The NHL regular season match between the “Washington” and “Islanders” will be held April 26 in the US capital. Start – at 2:00 Moscow time.
