Former world number two Badosa ended the season due to a spinal injury
MOSCOW, 26 Aug – Former world number two Spaniard Paula Badosa ended the season ahead of schedule and will not be able to take part in the US Open due to a spinal injury.
In May, the 25-year-old athlete suffered a stress fracture in her lumbar vertebrae. Due to the injury, she missed the French Open, and also refused to continue the fight in the first round match of Wimbledon against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.
Badosa is ranked 46th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Her best Grand Slam result is the 2021 Roland Garros quarter-finals.
