Sport: Rubiales put up for sale a penthouse in Madrid for 2.5 million euros
MOSCOW, September 18 – The former head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, has put the penthouse he bought while working for the federation up for sale, reports sport.es.
The advertisement for sale is located on several real estate sales portals. The penthouse, which is located in the center of Madrid, is on sale for 2.5 million euros. It is noted that on its territory there is a wide terrace and a private swimming pool.
According to the publication, Rubiales purchased the house in 2021 and paid the mortgage through RFEF.
During the awards ceremony for the winners of the Women’s World Cup, which took place in Australia and New Zealand, Rubiales hugged and kissed national team player Jennifer Hermoso on the lips. Many journalists and fans called his actions excessive. The head of the RFEF apologized for his behavior, but the federation convened an extraordinary assembly, during which Rubiales said that he would not resign and was ready to defend himself in court. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has temporarily suspended Rubiales from all football-related activities.
Subsequently, Rubiales resigned as president of the organization, and the Spanish National Court opened a criminal case against him. It later became known that he was prohibited from approaching Hermoso closer than 200 meters.
