The Minister of Sports of Ukraine explained the pressure of chanting Fenerbahce fans about Putin

MOSCOW, 5 Aug – Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Volodymyr Gutzeit said that Dynamo Kyiv players were subjected to psychological pressure during the match with Turkish Fenerbahce in the Champions League qualification.
Earlier, Dynamo defeated Fenerbahce in the second leg of the second round of the Champions League qualification. The meeting in Istanbul ended in extra time with a score of 2:1 in favor of the guests, which allowed the people of Kiev to advance to the next stage. After the goal, midfielder Vitaly Buyalsky made a provocative gesture towards the Fenerbahce fans. In response, the stands began to chant: “Vladimir Putin.”

“The Olympic Charter states that sport is out of politics. But now, given what is happening, sport is 100% in politics. The victories of our athletes are very important for us. We root for every person who glorifies Ukraine and raises our flag. In match “Dynamo” with “Fenerbahce” there was psychological pressure on our players to make mistakes. The Union of European Football Associations has launched a disciplinary investigation over the behavior of the Turkish club’s supporters. Later, the president of Fenerbahce, Ali Koch, said that the club would not apologize to Ukraine because of this incident. A number of users of the Turkish edition of En Son Haber supported the fans of the Istanbul team.
