MOSCOW, September 15 – The Polish national team will play with the Italian team in the final of the European Volleyball Championship, which is taking place in the cities of Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Israel.

On Thursday, in the semi-final match, the Polish team beat the Slovenian team with a score of 3-1 (23:25, 25:21, 25:20, 25:21). In another match to reach the final, the Italian team defeated the French team – 3-0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:23).

The final match of the tournament will take place in Rome on September 16. On the same day, the bronze medal match of the European Championship will take place, in which the national teams of Slovenia and France will play.

The 2021 European Championship was won by the Italian team, beating the Slovenian team in the final. The Italian team is a seven-time European champion.

In March 2022, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in international competitions and deprived the Russian Federation of the right to host the 2022 men’s world championship. In June, the FIVB announced the extension of the decision to exclude the Russian and Belarusian national teams.
