Usmanov won the first gold medal for the Russian team at the World Cup in Belgrade
MOSCOW, September 18 – Russian freestyle wrestler Akhmed Usmanov won the world championship, which is taking place in Belgrade.
In the final bout in the up to 79 kg weight category, he defeated Georgian Vladimir Gamkrelidze with a score of 4:1. Mohammad Nokhodarimi from Iran and Ukrainian Vasily Mikhailov won bronze.
Usmanov, who became the world champion for the first time, won the first gold medal for Russian athletes at this world championship. This weight category is not included in the Olympic program.
The World Championships in Belgrade will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
