MOSCOW, 28 Aug – Team USA defeated Greece in the second round match of the preliminary round of the Basketball World Cup, hosted by Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan.

Group C meeting, which took place in Manila (Philippines), ended with the score 109:81 (23:19, 27:18, 29:19, 30:25) in favor of the Americans. The most productive player of the match was the center of the Greeks Georgios Papayannis, who scored 17 points. As part of the Americans, defenseman Austin Reeves scored the most points (15).

Team USA tops the table of Group C with two wins in two matches, the Greeks are second.

In the final match of the preliminary stage, the Americans will play with the Jordan team on August 30, and the Greek team will meet with the New Zealanders on the same day and determine which of them will advance to the next stage of the tournament.

In group B, the Serbs won a second victory, beating the team of Puerto Rico (94:77), and topped the group table.
