USSR champion in Spartak Viktor Samokhin dies at the age of 66
MOSCOW, May 13 – Former Spartak Moscow football player Viktor Samokhin has died at the age of 66, according to the club’s Telegram channel.
Samokhin made his debut with Spartak in 1974. He played for the club until 1981, took part in 224 matches and scored three goals. As part of the “red-white” he became the champion of the USSR in 1979 and the silver medalist of the national championship in 1980 and 1981.
“FC Spartak expresses its deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Viktor Sergeyevich,” the club said in a statement.
After completing his sports career, Samokhin worked in the coaching staff of Spartak (from 1996 to 2002), which won the Russian championship six times and won the Russian Cup in 1998. Since 2011, he has been working at the Fyodor Cherenkov Academy.
