Beterbiev knocked out Smith Jr. and unified three championship belts
MOSCOW, June 19 – Russian Artur Beterbiev defeated American Joe Smith Jr. and became the world boxing champion according to three organizations at once.
The fight took place on Sunday night in New York. Beterbiev knocked out his opponent in the second round. The video was published on the Top Rank Boxing YouTube channel.
The Russian boxer retained the championship belts of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF). He also took away the title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) from the opponent.
Beterbiev won 18 victories in 18 fights during his professional career. He ended all fights by knockout.
