MOSCOW, 24 Sep – The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators in the first pre-season game of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The meeting, held in Toronto, ended with the score 4:1 in favor of the hosts. As part of the winners, Alex Steves scored a double (29th and 59th minutes), Justin Hall (26) and Denis Malgin (28) also scored goals. The guests scored Tim Stützle (12). At the start of the third period, “Toronto” changed goaltender Eric Chelgren to Dylan Ferguson.
The Russian forward of “Ottawa” Egor Sokolov and the defender Nikita Zaitsev did not score any points and finished the meeting with “-2” utility indicators. Toronto goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov was not included in the squad for the game.
On the night of September 25 Moscow time, the teams will play the second pre-season match.
