MOSCOW, 15 Aug – Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” terminated the contract with defender Nikolai Demidov, according to the Telegram channel of the club of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

The contract with the 26-year-old defender was terminated by agreement of the parties. It was calculated until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Demidov joined the “Torpedo” in the course of last season as a result of an exchange from the Novosibirsk “Siberia”. For the Nizhny Novgorod club, he played 18 matches in which he scored 2 points (1 puck and 1 assist). According to media reports, Demidov went on strike at the Novosibirsk club last season, demanding either a pay rise or an exchange, but ended up signing a contract with Novosibirsk in November. In total, the defender played 170 matches for Siberia and scored 48 points (16+32).

As part of the Russian national team, he played at the Junior World Championships, and was also called up for various international adult and youth tournaments.
