Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray pulls out of London due to injury
MOSCOW, June 13 – Two-time Wimbledon winner Briton Andy Murray withdrew from the tennis tournament in London due to a stomach injury, according to the official website of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
Murray in the first round on Tuesday was supposed to meet with the Italian Lorenzo Sonego. The British will be replaced by American Denis Kudla as a “lucky loser”. On Sunday, Murray lost to Italian Matteo Berrettini in the final of the tournament in Stuttgart. In the course of the meeting, the Briton sought the help of a doctor several times.
“After today’s examination, I was diagnosed with a stomach injury. This means that I will not be able to participate in the tournament in London this year. The tournament means a lot to me, and it is a shame to miss the competition, especially after I have already played some good matches at grass,” Murray said.
Murray won the tournament in London five times in singles and once in doubles.
