“I will kill everyone, Allahu Akbar.” Americans hated Chimaev because of the phrase September 11

The main patriot of the United States, Covington, can no longer get out of the fight with Khamzat.

On the night of September 10-11, the UFC 279 tournament took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in the co-main event of which Khamzat Chimaev strangled Kevin Holland in the first round. The fight with a middleweight fighter for Borz took place because he failed the weight race for the fight against Nate Diaz, which caused a lot of hatred from the fans. Fans even booed Chimaev during the fight.

After the fight, Khamzat aggravated the situation. During an interview with Joe Rogan, he shouted into the microphone: “Fuck all your guys, this is Chechnya, you bastards! I am the most dangerous guy here, I will kill everyone, Allahu Akbar!” No one would notice anything if the duel took place in the summer, in the winter, and in general on any other date. But the tournament took place on September 10 – on the eve of the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack. The battle ended a few minutes before the 11th local time. Due to the context, Chimaev’s words were received with hostility by the fans.

  • “They really let Chimaev say ‘Allahu Akbar’ into the microphone on September 11,” tweeted MVPJoker, an outraged Twitter user.
  • “Khamzat Chimaev, who says the phrases “I will kill everyone” and “Allahu Akbar” in one sentence is wild, especially on September 11,” issymetedad said.
  • “Chimaev should be ashamed. He failed not only himself, but all Muslims. Not a very good look at 9/11 coming up,” says Nick.
  • “Colby Covington, if you truly love America, you will beat Chimaev for 9/11,” swaveyEZ stated.
  • “The words “Allahu Akbar” in the United States on September 11 are crazy. Turn around. Crotch sniffing will not save you,” ExotericvChaos wrote, noting Chimaev.

The UFC didn’t even cut it from the YouTube video, swear. Hamzat, who says “I will kill everyone, Allahu Akbar” before September 11, will forever remain one of the most memorable moments.

In just a few days, for many Americans, Khamzat turned from a favorite fighter into a main villain. The fight with Colby Covington makes even more sense for Chimaev – now he is interesting not only from a sports point of view. Colby fans will certainly hope that their compatriot will take revenge on Chimaev for his words. Covington is the main patriot of America among UFC fighters, so there is simply no more logical fight for both. Unless, of course, Chimaev makes weight.
