UFC announced the fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski

The fight between Makhachev and Volkanovskiy for the UFC lightweight belt will take place on February 12 in Perth

MOSCOW, 13 Nov – The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on the official Telegram channel announced a fight between the champion of the organization in lightweight, Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Islam Makhachev and the champion in the featherweight division and the leader of the UFC rating, regardless of the weight category, Australian Alexander Volkanovski.
The fight will take place in Perth, Australia on February 12, 2023 as part of the UFC 284 show.
On October 22, Makhachev defeated the Brazilian Charles Oliveira ahead of schedule at the UFC 280 tournament in Abu Dhabi and became the new lightweight champion of the promotion. Immediately after the fight with Oliveira, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov offered Volkanovski a fight against Makhachev. The Australian, who entered the octagon, agreed to Nurmagomedov’s challenge.
If Volkanovski wins, he will become the fifth double champion in the promotion’s history. This achievement was previously submitted to Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunez and Henry Cejudo.
