Ukrainian Lesyuk won the mass start at the Summer Biathlon World Championships
MOSCOW, 27 Aug – Ukrainian Taras Lesyuk became the winner of the mass start at the Summer Biathlon World Championships, which takes place in Brezno-Osrblie (Slovakia).
Lesyuk covered the distance in 32 minutes 34.3 seconds, without allowing a single miss on four firing lines. The second was the Russian Dmitry Shamaev, who has been playing for Romania since 2021 (lag 8.6 seconds, 2 misses), the Lithuanian Vytautas Strolya (+16.7; 3) became the bronze medalist.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September 2022 decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
