Valieva removed the title of champion of Russia from her biography in social networks after the decision of RUSADA
MOSCOW, Jan 13 – Figure skater Kamila Valieva removed the inscription about the status of the winner of the Russian Championship 2022 from her biography on social networks after the decision of the disciplinary anti-doping committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (DAK RUSADA) to cancel her results at this tournament.
Valieva on December 25, 2021 won a gold medal at the Russian Championship in St. Petersburg with results above the world record. Later it became known that the figure skater’s doping test, taken on the day of her victory in the tournament, gave a positive result. On Friday, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reported that DAK RUSADA found that while Valieva committed an anti-doping rule violation, there was “no fault or negligence” on her part, but voided her result. The second place at the 2022 Russian Championship was taken by Alexandra Trusova, the third by Anna Shcherbakova, and the fourth by Adelia Petrosyan.
Now, in the biographies on Valieva’s pages, there are only mentions of victories at the European Championship, the Junior World Championship and the Grand Prix Final and the junior and adult stages of the Grand Prix, as well as the silver medals of the Russian Championship.
After the team tournament of the Beijing 2022 Olympics, in which Valieva helped the Russian team win, it became known that the doping test of the figure skater on December 25, 2021 gave a positive result. CAS allowed the athlete to the individual tournament of the Games, where she became the fourth. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the results of the Beijing Games competition with the participation of Valieva as preliminary, and the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Olympic team tournament was postponed until the investigation of the case was completed.
