Verstappen strengthens his lead in the Formula 1 drivers’ standings after winning the Canadian Grand Prix
MOSCOW, June 19 – Reigning F1 champion Dutchman Max Verstappen of Red Bull extended his lead in the drivers’ standings after winning the Canadian Grand Prix.
Verstappen took his sixth win of the season on Sunday and leads the drivers’ standings with 175 points. His teammate and closest pursuer Sergio Perez did not finish the race due to technical problems, the Mexican has 129 points. Monegasque Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is in third place with 126 points. Seven-time champion Briton Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes is in sixth place (77).
The top 10 drivers’ standings also include: 4. George Russell, Mercedes (111), 5. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari (102) … 7. Lando Norris, McLaren (50), 8. Valtteri Bottas, Alfa Romeo (44), 9. Esteban Ocon, Alpin (39), 10. Fernando Alonso, Alpin (22).
Red Bull lead the Constructors’ Championship with 304. The top 5 also includes Ferrari (228), Mercedes (188), McLaren (65) and Alpin (61).
The next stage of the championship will be held in the UK at the circuit “Silverstone” 1-3 July.
