In a recent interview, Al-Essa said, “We had the intention of bringing in a top-tier winger. Our target was Real Madrid’s Vinícius. However, some unexpected issues arose during negotiations. One of them was the possibility of striker Firas Al-Buraikan leaving the club to pursue a scholarship program, which led us to shift our priority from a winger to a striker. As a result, we started negotiating with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen. Ultimately, Toney’s signing resolved the situation.”

Later, Firas decided not to pursue the scholarship program and stayed with the club, which left the striker position filled but created a gap on the wing. Al-Essa mentioned that despite the extra striker, they still need to fill the winger position and are determined to sign a top winger in the winter transfer window.
