Rangers NHL coach on Shesterkin’s Hart Trophy nomination: We’re all proud of him

MOSCOW, May 12 – New York Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant said everyone on the team is proud of goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who was nominated for the Hart Memorial Trophy.
On Thursday, Shesterkin was shortlisted for his second individual prize this season in the NHL, the Hart Trophy. In addition to the Rangers goaltender, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews are up for the prize. Earlier, the Russian became one of three contenders for the Vezina Trophy – the prize for the best goalkeeper of the regular season.

The Heart Trophy is awarded to the player who has made the greatest contribution to his team’s success in the regular season. The winner is determined by a vote of the NHL Journalists’ Association representative offices in each of the cities where there are NHL clubs.
