Wrestler Usmanov dedicated his world championship gold to his mother
MOSCOW, September 18 – Russian freestyle wrestler Akhmed Usmanov said that he dedicated his victory at the World Championships in Belgrade to his mother and brothers, and also gave himself a birthday present.
On Monday, Usmanov became the world champion, winning the final in the up to 79 kg weight category. On September 16, the wrestler turned 27 years old.
Usmanov noted that he plans to move to the weight category up to 86 kg, which is included in the Olympic program.
“Yes, my weight is not small, the task was to win the world championship, and now it’s time to move up to the Olympic weight. For two years I was racing down, but then the weight was lower, and I was younger. Maybe now I can do two or three fights, but to withstand a full-fledged tournament… It’s easier for me when I eat and fight,” said Usmanov.
